Current Affairs Donald Trump POS: Judgement cometh and that right soon

One major problem with an impeached Trump is that it results in a President Pence. He's crazy and scary, but more competent. Even if you hope the whole mess takes down the VP too, that still leaves us with Paul Ryan.

So, my current hope (however faint) is Democrats win the House back in 2018 and then the whole mess comes down on both Trump and Pence.
I'm not sure it's that faint of a hope to be honest, especially if Trump keeps going the way he is.

There is more energy and involvement on the Left than there has been since 2008. The couple of special elections that have run so far have been incredibly close, despite being in districts that Republicans traditionally take at a stroll.

It'll be interesting to see Trump's approval ratings after this Comey fiasco, would be a surprise if they weren't a new record low.

Not knowing the political system in America as well as i should but if trump is impeached and found guilty and it brings down pence too is there no way that triggers a new election??

As far as I am aware, there isn't a scenario that results in a new election. Whoever is elevated to POTUS finishes out the original term.
However, constitutional scholar, I am not.

Quite a lot. The main limitin factor is the general incompetence throughout the administration.
And Trump's weird impulse to self sabotage, was only late last week that he got his healthcare bill through the house and things seemed to be progressing a bit for him legislatively...and then he chose to fire Comey and take all focus off it.

Happened during the campaign a lot too - no sooner than he had positive headlines than he'd pick a needless fight with someone.

That to me seems a little bizzare! Would have thought it would have been possible.

How is it all playing out in the press though? Is it as bad as it looks and sounds from the few bits we have seen?

nope... through impeachments, Gerald Ford became Vice President AND President, without being elected to either.

that's what the gerrymandering and voter suppression and dark money are for ; )

He did a lot of bizzare things in the campaign that quite frankly I was amazed he got voted in.
Take what he did to the disabled press person. What he said about that soldier. I am staggered he got in.

No offence but that is crazy!! Pretty sure if it happened here there would be an election pretty much right away.

yup, everyone goes on about how he's a master of distraction/controlling the media but I actually think he flies completely by the seat of his pants. I don't think anyone knew he was firing Comey till he did it. I find it mind blowing that no one has been able to stop him tweeting. All his appointments can do what they want while all his staffers have to run around cleaning up after him. It's amazing he's lasted this long.

You and me both!

Perhaps these will also have no impact either and it will only be if people see a negative change in their own lives, say with their healthcare, that will cause any reduction in his support.

How it plays in the press depends on the specific press and how (by whom) that press is interpreted. Still LOTS of folks that think it is all media hype/fake news.

As long as there is a GOP majority in the House and Senate, there is zero chance of impeachment...barring a video of Trump getting cash from Putin for the keys to the WH... then again, maybe not.

Even if the House went Democratic in 2018, conviction in the Senate requires 2/3 majority. It could easily end up like Clinton; impeached but not convicted so still in office.

The job of a White House staffer has a pretty high turnover rate in a normal admin - it is a stressful job at the best of times and those who are qualified to do it can usually find much higher paying jobs with less aggro/scrutiny.

But this is not a normal admin...

yep, he's basically a grumpy Fox News grampa. and thankfully, it appears Bannon and his fellow neo-nazi internet masturbators aren't actually competent enough to emulate the communist tyrants they admire.

barring a major terrorist attack, we should probably see the Trump Administration as just a dress rehearsal for when the Republicans decide to embrace a fascist who's actually capable.
