Well Lincoln was a farm boy. His dad was ruined financially. I don't know what class he was. He was poorly educated but he did grow up to be a successful lawyer.

Have you read Alan Johnson's book about his childhood? He could have got to the top if he'd fancied it.

I didn't say I was outraged, I said I was concerned. And as an immigrant in Trumps America, I feel that's warranted. It's pretty clear nothing is off the table now.

Not possible, sorry. The various state governors have to call out the National Guard unless it is a state of war. Trump, Obama, Bush 43 or Clinton (the won that wins) etc can't do this without consent of the governor's.

Quite a few actually, Woodrow Wilson, America's facist president's father was a Presbyterian minster. Obviously, Lincoln's family wasn't wealthy.

John Adams, the 2nd US president's father was a church deacon and farmer. He was a legend. He was an attorney and became quite famous for defending British soldiers charged with murder in the Boston Massacre. The Boston Massacre was something of a set up and used as propaganda. BUT the soldiers did fire on the crowd without their officer's orders.

Adams was a Patriot but agreed to represent them because he believed every man deserved legal counsel.

There are more, Truman, Carter, LBJ.
