Current Affairs Donald Trump POS: Judgement cometh and that right soon

So you don't think it's shocking at all that someone in Trump's administration was emboldened to suggest such a thing in the first place?

Not really, especially given that in some aspects it is a minor increase on what Perry did when Obama was in charge (he had the Texan National Guard patrolling their border looking for illegals but without having clear powers of arrest).

It's always struck me as strange that a country that has so much in the way of talent and energy can consistently come up with such poor quality candidates for leader.

Perhaps it's because you need so much dosh before you can think of running. The old adage that any kid can grow up to be president is no longer the case.

Nor the adage that "there is nothing wrong with America that cannot be cured by what is right with America."

True, but the fact that it was even considered is cause for concern, if any more were needed
Oh my goodness. Look, I am ardently against Trump, but this isn't news.

The government will often look at EVERY available option, including the extreme ones.

People need to get a grip with their outrage. Direct it at the stuff that actually matters, not superfluous stuff like this.

I'm not sure if it was considered but, when advisors to the president present a plan for something to him they give 3 options, a hard, a medium, and a soft option. It is known as The Three Bears. If a plan was presented re: deportation of a large number of illegal aliens it is probably this was the "hard" option.

The USA has "considered" invading Canada. Plans were drawn up, and are likely in a cabinet or on a shelf somewhere, detailing this invasion to liberate Canada from the Soviet Union had it been necessary.

I think we'd all be surprised at some things governments have considered.
And that type of stuff is constantly updated. You never know what those shady Canuks are up to.

This is the point now, if trump said tomorrow was Saturday there would be an outcry, 15 demonstrations and numerous news reports suggesting it's the Russians who are driving his agenda. It's about time the liberals got a grip tbh......

Think this could be a strategic leak as it'll attract attention initially but get explained logically this taking the heat off of actual craziness.

Sorry, but the current governing administration of the United States considering basically forming a sturmabteilung out of the National Guard is very obviously news. AP have the memo, they had every right - and duty - to publish it, and any right minded person would be alarmed by it.

Are you alarmed by the plans the US has to invade the UK should it come to it?

Those in government, long before Trump have detailed all kinds of crazy plans just in case. Thankfully none of them were ever used eh?

The National Guard have always been a backup to local law enforcement, though. Look at any major American disaster or disorder over the past fifty or sixty years and there they are, being called out and all wondering what the flip is going on. To claim that they are being turned into an SA is nonsense.

Not applicable. It's a suggested amendment to an executive action.

This isn't like having a long-term nuclear strategy that transcends presidencies in the event of war; this is a thought out suggestion of persecution of a minority in that country from the top down.

How you don't consider that newsworthy is beyond me.

I see. And have the National Guard been organised into a militia to round people up and intern them for deportation before?

I think that stretches the job description a bit. That's why it's news - it's using what would amount to be a paramilitary force for the persecution of people inside their own borders.

Well I don't think Abe Lincoln was a billionaire property developer originally!

I dunno. It's always stuck in my mind the image of a freckled farm boy growing up to be president. Probably gleaned from watching Henry Fonda and James Stewart films!
