Current Affairs Donald Trump POS: Judgement cometh and that right soon

Sarah Silverman says end this current fascist administration by....wait for it....a military coup.

Never mind that the vast majority of those who serve in the military vote Republican and/or lean conservative.

The best part is she thinks that an armed population would just bow down to such an event (yeah...I'm laughing here too.)

If hardcore leftists want a revolution/resistance, then pick up a gun and do it like it was done in Europe years ago.

Hitting me over the head with your protest sign or spraying me in the face with pepper spray isn't gonna quite get it done.

It is incredible how little they have learned from their defeat, never mind understood about it. For instance I read elsewhere today that HRC is going to get a seven figure sum for a book in which she writes a series of essays based on she thinks about certain quotes.

How is it so outrageous that he gets this comparison exactly? Does it not say a lot that people regardless of their political/historical knowledge are making this comparison outright and in overwhelming numbers?

This is a lengthy read but worthwhile. Obviously it's in the end an opinion piece but here are some highlights:

"Above all both of them mobilized a politics of grievance and recognized that grievance does not have to actually exist objectively—it can be talked into people. I have described Hitlerite rhetoric as a protracted, brattish whine. Grievances are imaginary as well as real. Thus “If I’m elected we’re all going to be saying Merry Christmas again” is a typically resonant piece of Trump oratory, but who is actually saying that we should no longer say Merry Christmas? It is a vigorous attack against a straw man."

"His popular media profile via The Apprentice is huge and it is easy for the bien pensant class to forget this or underplay the critical role of familiarity. Like Hitler (who did not found the NSDAP but joined it and rapidly became its propaganda director) he had a long exposure to media and therefore training in it. And like Hitler he had never held political office before running for the highest one."

"And both men, curiously, also theorized extensively about persuasion and its psychology—Hitler for the whole of chapter five in Mein Kampf, and Trump in the Art of the Deal: “The final key to the way I promote is bravado. I play to people’s fantasies. People may not always think big themselves, but they can still get very excited by those who do. That’s why a little hyperbole never hurts. People want to believe that something is the biggest and the greatest and the most spectacular.” And then again “I call it truthful hyperbole. It’s an innocent form of exaggeration—and a very effective form of promotion.” "

I think the least that could be said is that there are striking similarities in their core as human beings. The quotes above of course don't touch on the blatant racism, etc.

If I was to make one argument against the Trump/Hitler comparison, it would be that Trump is obviously an isolationist, and Hitler was far from.
It says their idiots if they make such a moronic comparison. Hitler was responsible for the deaths of millions! For God sake get some perspective! Furthermore prior to being given the title of chancellor (he was never elected full stop) which was only the third highest position in Germany at the time he lead a coup to overthrow the democratically elected government and was jailed for it for a pitiful time. While in Jail he wrote his evil, hateful book calling for the murder of millions and once he was given the title of chancellor he authorised a terrorist attack of the Rich Stag (their Parliament) which he blamed on a Norwegian (or Dutch depending on reports) Jew. This is just scratching the surface of all the terrible things Hitler did prior to becoming the Furher of the Rich.

There is no comparison between Adolf Hitler and Donald Trump and only the supremely ignorant would suggest otherwise. It's hyperbole nonsense from the media repeated by idiot celebrities who think they're more important and intelligent then they actually are and parroted by legions of followers who wish to voice their disapproval of Trump and do so in the most shallow possible way. I'm not defending Trump but I won't have the anyone compared to one of the most evil men to ever walk the earth unless it's justified and with Donald Trump it simply isn't.

I remember when George W. Bush was Hitler. Times change, but the people making the accusation don't.

You'll start seeing US battle casualties back in the papers as well. Each one a Grim Milestone. It's been eight years since we've seen Grim Milestones.

Props to whoever came up with the Cheeto Benito moniker, though. I don't care who y'are, that's funny.

Erm.. nope? Those are words you've just put in my mouth.

There would be a huge amount of upset, but the USA wouldn't become a fascist dictatorship as you suggest.
I didn't actually say it would lead to a fascist dictatorship though..........

I said the rage of the far right would spread like wildfire and imo would lead to a far more extreme leader then Trump.

I do agree with you on this though. The US isn't going to turn into Nazi Germany, owing to the fact that it isn't a war torn economically distraught country led by a man who murdered his way to the top.

Nonetheless, Trump does have some dangerous rhetoric and blames ethnic and religious groups of people for problems which aren't their fault, so it's inevitable that some comparisons will be made.

Well that's how it read to me.
I worded myself poorly then, fair enough. I'll rephrase. If Trump was assassinated it would lead to massive upheaval and chaos and an even more extreme leader would take over. Thing's wouldn't be able to go back to how they were before and it would be the quickest possible route to an far right dictatorship, it might not go that far but make no mistake about it whoever took over Trump if that was to happen would be Trump X100.

This is true, though it does tend to ignore the fact that Western politics - and especially the Western media - is replete with figures who blame ethnic / religious groups of people for problems which aren't their fault.
Take the immigration debate over here for instance, in which the leader of a major party is considered laughably out of touch when he suggests that the "problems" in the country aren't down to migrants. Or take Islam, in which large parts of the EU have got themselves into such a tizz that they see nothing wrong in reacting to a series of attacks by demonstrably misogynist Sunni Muslim men by making it illegal for Muslim women to wear certain garments.

Trump did not come from no-where to win, some very clever but also very stupid people spent decades crafting the right conditions for him to do so.

From the early 1940s.

I remember when Obama was "LITERALLY the AntiChrist" and how he was going to impose Islamic Sharia law on the country. Even tho not one quote was ever made from him regarding anything like that.

And, yet, here we are.
