Apparently Barack Obama banned Iraqi refugees from entering the US in 2011 over terrorism fears. Obama’s administration stopped processing all applications from Iraqi migrants over a six-month time period.
It has also emerged that Bill Clinton, took a tough stance against immigration, deporting the highest number on record in 2000 when 1,864,343 aliens were booted out, according to the US Center for Immigration studies.
Is it possible, that whilst being a stupid and ill thought out act in the extreme, it has been hijacked by Trump haters to give him a bit of a kicking.......I particularly liked the 1Million lefties who petitioned not to let him in so as not to embarrass Her Majesty........

Just some clarity on that Pete.
1) it only applied to the processing of refugee visas - those with current visa's were allowed to travel. Huge difference in scope for this order as all visa holders, even green card holders who have lived in US for decades, are impacted, not just refugees.
2) it was only applied to one country and was based on a specific, communicated security risk in the application process - there was no ban as such, it was a revetting to address those security lapses. Once a person had cleared those extra vetting they were allowed to travel, they did not have to wait a specific 6 months although the delays did mean the many were effectively delayed that long or longer - leading to the death of at least one US Iraqi translator. Apart from saying "extreme vetting" a lot Trump has neither indicated what security breaches there are and nor how they will be fixed and the specific ban on Syrian refugees lifted or the 120 day moratorium on other visa processing.
1. Deporting people without a valid visa is different than denying entry to folks with valid visas. Everyone detained so far (as far as I am aware) had valid visas. (and don't start with extreme vetting. Complete bunk. It already takes years to get a visa)
2. Obama didn't spend months saying he would deny entry to Muslims. Trump did. His people managed to write an EO that is purportedly about security/terrorism that doesn't explicitly name Muslims (albeit giving preference to non-majority religions) but it's purpose is obvious.
Additionally, he caused a cluster**** with how he did it. People in mid-flight unable to make a decision not to fly, etc... Led to illegal detentions. He didn't discuss the EO with any entities that would be enforcing it. It was enforced differently in different places. My constitutional and or general law knowledge is very basic but I would think that violates 14th amendment ...equal protection under the law.

Except the thing is the world is United against a leader democratically elected. So it's a bit of a joke even more so that people in a different country aren't happy about a leader who isn't over them. He won the election, therefore he is the elected president. Not by default, but the country voted him in.
English don't like him? Makes no difference whatsoever, and it makes a joke of the democratic system in America if people keep doing it, especially as they wouldn't be doing the same if their choice ( the warmongering clinton) won the same way
