Yep, includes legal permanent residents, even those who have been here years. Reports that those in transit have been held at airports, although some have been let through on a case by case basis.


Official reports are few so await clarification but also appears that it includes those that are dual citizens eg Canadian/Syrian, or even a sole citizen that was born in the affected regions eg a UK citizen and passport holder who was born in Tehran as a child.

Oh my goodness. That is scary. I read today that Google have recalled all their employees and have massive concerns about tech industries

from the BBC website:

Google has recalled around 100 of its affected staff from overseas. Microsoft has warned its shareholders that curbs on immigration could have a material impact on its business.

The technology sector relies heavily on highly skilled and well-paid workers from overseas on H1-B visas. If there's a risk, however small, that that brainpower could be restricted in some way or scare off others who may feel unwelcome, the big tech companies may have to rethink where they place their key staff in future.

Resistance.

Think back to the mid 30s. The way events developed and how nobody seemed to do or say anything to stop or oppose it. Now, people excuse it, go along with it and, to be honest, are scared of standing up to be counted. Scared of opposing it.

I suppose the answer to your question lies in what you wish had happened in the mid 30s.

All very confused right now so some of these things could be walked back or "clarified", having a rollout late on a Friday night without adequate briefing/warning to those implementing the procedures is not helping matters. I imagine that several in Trump's orbit are getting frantic calls from their business contacts.
