I'm old enough to recall a time when Republicans said they were the party of free trade and low taxes. If this report is correct and such a tax goes through then cost of living, especially for the poor, will significantly increase as we import a significant amount of agricultural produce from Mexico.

The US President’s sweeping new executive order on immigration, which he signed on the fifth day of his presidency, includes a paragraph mandating the Secretary for Homeland Security to “make public a comprehensive list of criminal actions committed by aliens” in the US.

The US President’s sweeping new executive order on immigration, which he signed on the fifth day of his presidency, includes a paragraph mandating the Secretary for Homeland Security to “make public a comprehensive list of criminal actions committed by aliens” in the US.

It's a natural reaction when the pendulum swings too far one way then it swings right back the other way. While this may seem odious to many of us who live in centrist countries and have been protected by natural borders, it will now strike a chord with a few Eastern European countries who are undergoing similar influxes. I would fully expect a number of EU countries to eventually do similar. It is incredibly sad, but unfortunately predictable......
