I must be slipping. Sorry. Identity politics is all about pitting one group against another. Gay vs Straight, Black vs White, Rich vs Poor. It's been the Dem platform for years and they're going to double down on it rather than come up with a platform that appeals to most all American, regardless of race, gender, religion, wealth, etc...
Come up with something that appeals to the plumber in Madison, Wisconsin and the professor in Boston MA. The senior citizen in FL and the millennial in Seattle.
I'm not saying you can be all things to all people because you can't. But a platform of calling voters racists, bigots, or homophobic because they don't agree with you on the issues is a very poor strategy in my opinion.
