"Bad advisors" was always the cover story for minor rebellions against the Crown back in the pre-parliamentary days. You couldn't argue that the king themselves was the problem as they were annointed by God, so you'd call out their advisors for treason or general incompetence, attack some other Duke for their land and try to make yourself an advisor instead.

In this way, the grifters can't go 100% against Trump himself (you can draw your own view of whether Trump is 'annointed by God' in the eyes of MAGA acolytes) so it's all about those around him being terrible.
