Going after Fauci for not going after China at the peak of the pandemic is completely bonkers. Did he suppress information suggestive that the Chinese government developed the virus? Maybe. Was that a Pandora's Box anyone wanted opened at the height of the pandemic? No. One does not antagonize the only source of intelligence regarding a deadly virus, while trying to contain it. Recriminations are for after the fire is extinguished.
A "normal" post-mortem of a public health crisis would be asking what we learned, not who is to blame. Subjecting career public servants with distinguished records to this sort of public sophistry will only make it impossible to replace them...but that's exactly what conservatives want. They want the public health system dismantled and the corpses piled up, that their small businesses and free-daycare schools might stay open. Heaven forfend they take a standard of living hit for a few months to save the lives of children, the aging and the immunocompromised.
It was the same with the 'defund the WHO' stuff. I've no issue with seeking reform, improvements or as you state what did we learn. Instead its find a bogey man and attempt to shutdown the WHO in the middle of a global pandemic, which is stark raving bonkers.

Infuriating the pivot to please an audience and throw a man and his family under the bus. Even nore infuriating is that I echo his original statement on Dr Fauci, I thought he was by far the most reassuring medical official in the public sphere during the pandemic. He made himself as available as possible (god knows what hours he worked) and his calm and informative public appearences really eased my anxiety on the pandemic.

The way we cover perceived bias in the court system has been a mess since OJ, which more or less means right from the start of the 'court of public opinion' era. That drew a fault line along race that has, without a doubt, impeded real reforms.
