I can't decide if he's this stupid, trying to get full gag order to be a "martyr" and rile his base, or is so deluded he thinks nothing will happen to him.

Trump has built his entire adult existence around being the most important man in the room. Directly appointed President of Daddy's company, then the 'star' of the Apprentice, then President of the US. He's spent his entire life without being accountable to any immediate authority and has famously just tried to make legal action against him too expensive for plaintiffs, or has settled without having to go to court.
He's an incredibly weak man who shies away from any challenge. The picture of him with his arms crossed defensively whilst Merkel looks down on him. The picture of him walking out of a private meeting with Putin, looking beaten whilst Putin is all smiles. The minute he runs up against true authority that can't be bullied away or bought off, he's got nothing.
I'll bet the pig doesn't do time, even and this is a stretch he's found guilty of one of his many crimes, he does a runner.
