Why do these people all follow the same path? When did Brexit and poppies become anti vax and Chemtrails?
At some point being right wing merged with conspiracy guff. My feeds are full of them
Very strange
It only takes one subject such as the coronavirus, that was an easy one for many to follow conspiracy theories on because it was inconvenient to them and a lot of people don't like any form of self sacrifice for a greater good. They then seek out allies and reading material that confirms their ill-educated bias and before you know it algorithms are hitting them hard with a host of misinformation that they are now very open to swallowing.

yea, even friends of mine have gotten caught up in this stuff.
Called a buddy out yesterday because he was posting conspiracy videos about the government flattening that town in Maui so they could build a 15 min city.
Followed by a string of posts about the evils of 15 min cities. He went on about how Oxford was staring down the barrel of a stalinist society or something.
He actually told me that he didn't believe the government directly bombed Maui but they did orchestrate the weather to cause the disaster, oh and called me sheeple!
Barmy stuff!
It's kinda like a zombie movie, they get these ideas in to their brains and there is absolutely no curing it, it just gets worse and worse till they've alienated family and friends and just communicate with each other.

in the last 5 years he's become pro trump, fiercely pro 1A, anti vax, anti lock down and talks a lot about the World Economic Forum with a weird amount of confidence for someone who has no idea what it is.

Remember when Clinton was getting serviced in the Oral Office and he got impeached in a bipartisan display against his actions "unfit for office" then the GOP in 2016 nominates and elects a man who claims/admits to habitual sexual assault because women don't report due to intimidation. Let's just stop here and ask what the [Poor language removed] is going on in America.
There is something wrong with the current world in which most people believe they are a lot smarter than they actually are. This is true whether a tenured professor at a distinguished university or the junior staffer whose cubicle sits closest to the water cooler. Add to that the fact that so many people are actually stupid and it becomes a really big problem.
To put it in footballing terms, last season DCL and Neil Maupay were terrible. Both were near bottom of the league in chances taken/missed (technically, underperforming xG). But for Maupay, not only was he terrible, but he actually sucks at football. At any rate, Everton were almost relegated and absolutely deserved to be relegated. That is where we are culturally.
The US deserves to be relegated and actually is not very far from it. And the UK is probably worse off than the US (you're Maupay, we're DCL).
When it comes down to it about 70% of the US voting public wont vote for Trump.
