Current Affairs Donald Trump POS: Judgement cometh and that right soon

He's away with the windmills again. The whole speech is an incoherent, babbling mess.

For the first 15 seconds he was right - that is what needs to happen to affect Russia negatively. The bit after that is crazy though, we need more windmills (and solar, nuclear, tidal and the rest) to actually lower it.

Pence now being presented as a "hero" is kind of troubling, but at least they went in on Trump

That’s pretty much what the Republican Party has come to at this point. Even doing the barest minimum to push back against Trump and his fascist cronies makes you a “hero”. Politically, I probably don’t agree with Mike Pence or Liz Cheney about much of anything. However, I do respect that they’ve prioritized doing what’s right even if it comes at the expense of their political careers.

It’s worth saying too that in this political environment, Democrats must fall all over themselves praising sane Republicans lest they are accused of partisan politics. It’s a reason why Cheney is Vice Chair of the committee. Any Americans who aren’t already thru the looking glass can’t be given a reason to simply say “yeah, but politics”

Only part of the GOP and I'd say it's a small part. A third of Americans believe the "big lie".
It's a fair assumption that the overwhelming majority of those are GOP. That doesn't leave a lot of "sane" Republicans

"Troubling" seems kind. Mike Pence is no hero. He is what he's always been - a craven, weak opportunist looking for the chance to further his own career.

The Committee and the former VP legal counsel casting him as some firm believer in his inability to carry out Trump's wishes is a whitewashing of what happened in December 2020. It's being done, likely, IMO, to draw a contrast between someone doing "the right thing" v someone doing "the wrong thing".

Fact is, Pence tried his damndest to find a way to comply. It's why he called Judge Luttig and why he called Dan Quayle. He didn't simply take the advice of his VP legal counsel, Mr. Jacob, and say "Mr. President, I cannot do it. It's illegal for me to do so." Think about that. He went casting about for a way to comply with what he was told on multiple occasions by multiple parties was an illegal order/scheme.

Then, when he finally realized there was no legal justification - he said nothing. He let the POTUS lie to his supporters and the nation, to create this fiction of a possibility of the VP of the USA reversing the election for weeks leading up to January 6, 2021. Mike Pence's silence in those weeks is, arguably, as responsible for the events of January 6 as the bluster of Cheeto Grifters, Inc. Pence is no hero. He's a 'kin coward.
