If holding someone accountable for inciting an attempt to halt the legitimate steps that would transfer power out of the hands of said person, causes polarization, I'll take the polarization. If they vote in support of trump, they are just deferring their career suicide for 4 years. This will all kick off again at the next election and all eyes will be on those republicans who enabled it. The old codgers who won't be running again might avoid the fallout, but Cruz and Hawley had best start planning for a career outside of politics.

Considering the change in demographics and the Republicans performance and behaviour over the last term they are a spent force.

I don’t think we will see a Republican president for a long time and the best they could hope for is gaining control of one of the houses on a temporary basis.

They are sinking fast if they continue on there current course of white privilege even conservative immigrants will shy away from them.
