Even if it doesn't sway the republican senators (and let's face it, it won't), this trial will make for very uncomfortable viewing for the general public and may make some think twice about backing their republican representatives in future. I suspect that has been the Dem plan all along as they knew they wouldn't succeed in finding him guilty.
I totally agree and at least their vote will be recorded in the history books so nobody can forget about the time when GOP Senators decided to turn their backs on the Republic because they were to coward to stand up to a demagogue. It will forever be stain on their record and hopefully some Republican voters will be disgusted enough to vote again for some of these weaklings.

This is why they were so disappointed on the constitutionality question. They were hoping to punt on this, now they have to sit and get dunked on for several days, something where really there is no defense for Trump's actions.

I actually think we will see more than 6 republicans vote to convict. Not sure we will get 17, but I think the House's arguments are so compelling, so complete, so disparate from how other Republicans have gone on record on this issue (even McConnell saying the election fraud was a big lie), that some of them will eventually realize it's too damaging to the country (and to the GOP long term) to not do something about it.

At least I can dream

House managers continue making a very good case today. Representative Madeleine Dean just close her statement reminding senators about crook Trump asking Raffensperger "Just find me 11,280 votes" He was the one trying to steal the election, let's remind Republicans about it.

Afraid it will be this

After seeing the case the House managers are building against Trump one would think there are more than 6 senators willing to convict. But to be honest, I'm more of a dreamer about Everton winning the cup than Republicans voting to convict.
