I don't feel sorry for him, nor do I relish him going down in flames. He was in an impossible position for the last 4 years as far as Trump's outrageous attacks on democracy were concerned. He should, however, be rightfully admonished for the generally terrible job he did, particularly as head of the Covid taskforce

This is probably closer to what I meant when I said I felt sorry for him. He, and more importantly his family, don’t deserve the constant harassment and vitriol that is almost certain to be coming from the MAGA cult.

As for the COVID task force, I think things would have actually been better if Trump had truly gotten out of the way and just let Pence run it. Not great, but I do think he would have at least managed to not make the most basic things like mask wearing so incredibly divisive.
