This may not be a popular take, but at this stage I actually feel bad for him. On a lot of fronts he’s obviously awful, but by all accounts he’s going to uphold his duty today, and he certainly didn’t ask for what is likely coming his way.
Then you are a more forgiving soul than I am.

”you reap what you sow” - Pence has pandered to Trump’s authoritarian and crazy impulses when he was in a unique position to do something to stop them. That the leopard is now eating his face is an entirely predictable outcome, you only had to look at Jeff Beauregard Sessions to see how it would play out.

I respect your magnanimity mate, but with 360,000 dead while head of the Covid task force, you ain't getting props from me just for doing a simple part of your job, he's a wretched man and to my mind he's well and truly asked for whats next - Trump has shat on every human being with the misfortune to come into his orbit, and you're a venal cretin if you think he isn't gonna turn on you.

Disagree there Legs. I don't think there was anything he could do. Trump goes out of his way to destroy anyone who doesn't fall in line with his limited and deranged worldview, and Pence probably only copped this slightly too late. There were heaps of people who thought they could control him and found out it just wasn't happening. I don't consider Pence a particularly standup individual, but I don't think he's in the same league as some of the Republican goons who have shed all self-respect and integrity at the altar of one of history's great numpties

Oh he would have been destroyed in the process and it could well not have worked but a Vice President resigning in protest and then supporting impeachment would have given cover to a lot of Senate Republicans to find a spine.

Don't be getting sad for Grand Moff Tarkin. He chose his role in this. He now has to sit aboard the Death Star as it explodes.

I don't feel sorry for him, nor do I relish him going down in flames. He was in an impossible position for the last 4 years as far as Trump's outrageous attacks on democracy were concerned. He should, however, be rightfully admonished for the generally terrible job he did, particularly as head of the Covid taskforce

He could have resigned. Came up with some BS health excuse

na. Pence knew all along what trump was all about. He knew the pros and cons of riding trumps coat tails. He's a smart man, he could have resigned at any point but instead he went all in all the time.
The guys a complicit schmuck.

I honestly think Pence was surprised when chosen and probably felt this would be his best opportunity to become President. He most likely thought Trump wouldn't get 4 years done without getting kicked out or dying.

Unlike his cabinet, which is appointed, the VP was voted in. So Trump couldn't fire him.

Mike Pence is the one person that literally could have done anything without reproachment.

And if there was anything now he could do to overturn the results and stay in power with Trump does anyone believe he wouldn’t out of principle???

He’s been off skiing the past week on the taxpayer dime (despite knowing he would be out of office in less than a month) whilst thousands died due to a disease he is supposedly the government coordinator in charge of managing. He deserves every ounce of whatever grief he is going to get today.
