I’m not necessarily in favor of throwing stimulus money at everyone, but as
@LinekersLegs pointed out in one of the threads the other day, that is almost certainly the quickest way to get money in the hands of some people who are literally going hungry. I do wish there were some sort of way for people to opt out (which I would 100% do) and then just subtract that amount from what we borrow/print, but again stuff like that takes days or weeks that some people don’t have right now.
As for tying stimulus money to getting vaccinated, that seems like it would be hard to fully enforce. The stimulus money is now, and for a lot of people the vaccine is at least six months and probably more like a year away. I’m not someone who is generally in favor of the government mandating the vaccine for everyone, but would absolutely be on board with measures being put in place that not taking the vaccine makes life so difficult most people effectively have no choice but to get it. If you refuse to get yourself or your children vaccinated, IMO you shouldn’t expect to allowed to work in an office or other public setting and certainly shouldn’t get to send your children to public schools. If you want to WFH and home-school your kids forever, then sure, go ahead with your anti-vacc bull****.
