Current Affairs Donald Trump POS: Judgement cometh and that right soon

It's all just tedious game playing at this point.
Trump is a populist so he calls for $2k
The dems who actually believe in it (sanders, AOC) giddily call for it.
Pilosi who doesn't want it, runs it through the house knowing it puts McConnell in a hard spot.
McConnell, though vile, sticks to his guns and doesn't allow the vote knowing how badly that could play in Georgia.

All this is is buying votes and playing popularity chess.
How the hell is every American on board with stimulus checks for all after a year of ranting about commies and government over reach.
Surely it makes sense to make this a hardship fund you can apply for if your family makes less than 100K p/a or if you can show financial hardship due to covid.

I've suggested to friends that maybe the stimulus check be tied to agreeing to take a vaccine. I was told that was un-American.
So, no holes barred cash for everyone (that they'll cut programs for the poor to pay back) is American?

I’m not necessarily in favor of throwing stimulus money at everyone, but as @LinekersLegs pointed out in one of the threads the other day, that is almost certainly the quickest way to get money in the hands of some people who are literally going hungry. I do wish there were some sort of way for people to opt out (which I would 100% do) and then just subtract that amount from what we borrow/print, but again stuff like that takes days or weeks that some people don’t have right now.

As for tying stimulus money to getting vaccinated, that seems like it would be hard to fully enforce. The stimulus money is now, and for a lot of people the vaccine is at least six months and probably more like a year away. I’m not someone who is generally in favor of the government mandating the vaccine for everyone, but would absolutely be on board with measures being put in place that not taking the vaccine makes life so difficult most people effectively have no choice but to get it. If you refuse to get yourself or your children vaccinated, IMO you shouldn’t expect to allowed to work in an office or other public setting and certainly shouldn’t get to send your children to public schools. If you want to WFH and home-school your kids forever, then sure, go ahead with your anti-vacc bull****.

yea, I hear those reasons.
But they knew, after the cares act, that there was likely going to be a need for a second round of stimulus checks. 9 months is plenty of time to have some sort of qualification process in place. They can decipher between citizens and residents quick enough, they know exactly how much most Americans earn.
They can definitely get the money where it needs to go but that doesn't buy votes and doesn't keep the Dow high.

As for the vaccine, again they had no problem mandating that I provide proof of private insurance so as not to incur the penalty. The IRS would know that I accepted the $600 and I have 2 years to provide proof of vaccination or I am subject to a $600 fine.

Every time we skip an obvious solution we blame bureaucracy. Yet we can get it done when it's politically convenient.

I'm more irked by the blind eye turned to the ultimate socialist handout by those who spent the rest of the time driving fear in to the American people about socialism.

In a sane world, absolutely. However, it’s been nine months and they can’t even decide if people need more money to get them through this, much less what an actual dollar figure might be.

Fair point on the vaccine. Either provide proof you followed up and got it once it was available to you, or repay your stimulus check. Easy enough.

Yea, and the thing is they are just playing politics.
We need campaign finance reform, term limits, and a ban on members of congress trading or participating in private business activities.
We need to make it so congress is not made up of out of touch millionaires who think its ok to play political football with this, on both sides.

The only thing I can find to say for Trump is that he gets up the noses of the Googles and Amazons of this world who increasingly run our lives and are solidly behind Biden I'm sure.
