It has to be weighed against the risks of doing nothing.

Which would be an obese 74 year old, so around a 10-15% mortality rate. Possibly a 1 in 7 chance of death.

I think they'll risk a few side effects to potentially get that rate down, given who it is.

Or inject him with bleach, either/or.

There’s absolutely no precedent for a presidential candidate dying in the weeks prior to the election. That said, I don’t think Pence is guaranteed nor even likely to receive the nomination if they had to find a new candidate.

He took HCQ when there was very little data about that as well - think this is just a high risk sort of move that would not be made with another president.
