It's mildly...no, scratch that, it's very alarming that some very smart people I know are now touting the "Im ready to start living again" whilst living in fn Floridia. And they are also starting with the "what are masks REALLY going to do" crap.

The thought of things spiraling out of control in Florida is scary. Because of all the retirees that move down there for the warm weather, that state may have more elderly residents per capita than anywhere in the country.
Completely. You look at the NY Times map for COVID cases and Florida looks like its on fire. But almost everyone I talk to down there comes back with a "you need to start living again" like this is just a fad ffs. Not trying to be an ass or...I don't know but I feel like the death toll needs to be like 15% for people to realize this [Poor language removed] isn't over. I'm not exactly innocent in this as I went to a restaurant the other day with a mate but I'm very cognizant of how dangerous this all is ffs.
Fauci isn’t infallible, nobody is. But he hasn’t suggested injecting bleach, taking hydroxychloroquine or watched an eclipse without eye protection so this seems an odd criticism

I don’t know that their actions have necessarily destroyed the economy. As the true scope of this virus comes more and more into focus, it’s become evident that tourism, sports, etc. are all a thing of the past until an effective vaccine is widely available. Not just in Florida, but everywhere in the world. At this point they need to do what they can to mitigate the death toll.
Also, it’s not as if everyone there voted for these terrible politicians. Both the presidential and gubernatorial races were extremely close. Out of 9M+ votes, Trump won by about 100k and DeSantis by 30k.
