Of course there is a disaffected poor set of white folks; what's strange is just how many of them can be rabble-roused into supporting a fascist who invents fake scapegoats for them to be angry at. This happens all the time in history. They should be supporting socialist causes like affordable healthcare, a living wage, grants for education, but the right-wing has somehow convinced them that socialism is a bad word and that the real enemy is dark-skinned immigrants from the south, Antifa, and "Marxist" college professors/students.
Their disaffection is real and needs to be taken seriously. But so is their damaging support of policies and politicians that continue to promote inequality.
