I’ve got lots of bad feelings - that the polls are wrong, that there won’t be the turnout expected, that there will be voter suppression/meddling, Trump refusing to accept a loss...!

There’s plenty of data out there that he’s lost significant numbers of floating voters and even chunks of what was formerly his base (particularly the elderly) recently.

It’s far from over, but I’d say he’s gone from being a slight favourite (at the turn of the year) to a slight-moderate underdog for re-election.

I think it is bad for him. I'm not counting him out or anything, but it is about as bad a position right now as anyone has had and I struggle to see what is coming down the pipe to fix it.

What happens with the economy is going to be hugely influential. Not only is it the thing that has derailed past presidents running for re-election but it is the topic Trump has the biggest positive difference with Biden.

That's part of what I mean when I say I don't see what turns it around for him. With COVID clearly still a major problem, I just can't see anything like a major economic rebound. The only way I can really see him getting reelected is if he out of nowhere starts to actually get a grip on responding to this virus. But he's pretending it went away instead.

I just don't trust those polls, at all.

When the lead is of the double digit variety, you can trust them. If there is systemic bias, it isn't that large.

If it tightens to 6 or 7 points, you can start worrying because that means that decisive swing states fall within margin of error.
