I have to admit, that despite the fact I call myself well travelled by virtue of my years in the Merchant Navy and subsequent jobs since then, I really haven't spent much time in the company of real live Americans. Other than fleeting visits to their country, and a fortnight in the Mayan Riviera I've never had time to consider their virtues.
Have they therefore, got the President they deserve? Am I missing something or have they been completely hoodwinked by their system?

Oh, there's loads of virtues in Americans along with loads of sins. Much like most other folks. I'm one so I get to poke fun at my kind.

As far as truly "deserving" of Tweetie Amin, I take issue. He's POTUS by virtue of a system that no one in their right minds truly wanted from the founding and has no place in a modern, democratic society other than to serve the interests of the (effectively) 2-party system we have. The "loser" of the election garnered 2 million more votes than the "winner". So in the best sense of the term, no, I do not think we deserve him.

But a cynical case could surely be made...
