People waiting Up to 4-5hrs to vote in Georgia.

That GOP playbook working a treat.

I’d be curious to know from the Americans in here what their voting experience is like.

For reference, here in UK I’ve never had to travel more than about a mile and a half, and I’ve never waited longer than 5mins to cast my vote.

Very dependent on your location...from state to county/city to district within city.

Since the voting rights act was killed by SCOTUS a lot of polling stations in black and/or low socioeconomic areas have been closed across the south.

Meanwhile, in the land of mezzrow...

The Washington Post reports three Republican officials confirmed to the news agency that Republicans have tentatively settled on Jacksonville as the new destination for the GOP premier festivities in August.

The report says at the latest, RNC aides are scrambling to determine whether Jacksonville has enough hotel rooms to accommodate the event, which typically kicks off the final stretch of the presidential campaign. It would take significant work to make the convention happen. Estimates show the event could draw 50,000 visitors.

The head of Visit Jacksonville believes the city could handle the crowds with 80,000 hotel rooms.

What could possibly go wrong? My local contacts in the police dept are like:

It seems like potentially ticking off the northern part of Florida (ie the more red part) by causing a huge rise in COVID-19 infections, leading to a lock down, etc would be a bad idea.

I’d certainly be interested to hear some of his bullet points on how the **** Braxton Bragg, George Pickett or Leonidas Polk represent a history of winning, victory and freedom.

I think you'll be delighted to read his inevitable tweet about Polk and his 300 holding off the muslims.

I know it’s not important in the scheme of things, but the capitalisations... oh god the capitalisations
Literally every adjective is capitalized. There is at least that small method to his madness. A few other random proper nouns in there too. Also nitpicking, but while the HEROES were in fact trained at these bases, weren’t they technically deployed overseas, you know, where the enemy was?

Just so everyone is clear where he stands.....

Robert E. Lee, A.P. Hill, John Bell Hood, John B. Gordon, P.G.T. Beauregard, George Pickett, Braxton Bragg, Leonidas Polk, Henry Benning and Edmund Rucker - “Part of a great American heritage, and a history of winning, victory and freedom.”

John McCain - “He’s not a war hero...I like people that weren’t captured.”
