Costs half a million dollars per inmate per decade. Prison with 1000 inmates all doing 10 years. Sure, they don't cost us anything do they...
1. Depends on the crime. Some people don't change. What do you do then? Just wait for them to kill again seems like the worst answer. Remember when you get loads of different chances at living your life? Funny cause i only remember getting one chance and if I do something stupid i could lose it.
2. Sure there has. I'm surprised you'd think there wouldn't be a pretty stringent vetting process. I'm sure we'd rush into just killing off anyone with a half a false confession. I'm sure there wouldn't be incredible public interest in each case. Why wouldn't you have a process of public appeal? I have said there should be capital pushment, don't think I'd just be topping anyone with half a record.
3. Again your pushing it to the extreme opposite direction.
Ok so if you murdered someone, confessed, served your time, promised you'd never do it again - and as soon you got out you did it again.
Back to jail and another promise you won't do it again? Whats the answer then? Oh naughty boy, back in the 'time out' you go.
Top to bottom, left to right. Not to confuse the cultural way you might read writing but this is a good way to start.
The recidivism rate in the US is 43%. Almost half of all criminals in jail end up reoffending. Prison doesn't work. Proven fact.

That film is not a real story - and an awful film too.
The man below killed 11 people by blowing up a van and then calmly walked around a murdered 69 innocent kids in a summer camp.
77 people murdered.
He is currently serving 21 years in jail.
The man below marched into a Mosque and murdered 51 innocent people.
51 innocent people gunned down going to church.
Yet to be sentenced after a full year of legal proceedings.
Sickens me that we keep this scum warm and cozy and fed while the victims get no such sympathy.
Two men alone kill 128 people and we think they should get leniency and a 'fair go'.
The garbage punishment seems to be reserved for the victims and their families in your World.

i mean you’re not paying them, but aside from that:
1) Do you think it’s impossible for people to change and rehabilitate and become an asset to society
2) You reckon there’s never been a wrongful conviction that included a confession?
3) you’d hugely increase the burden on the Justice system if everyone knew you’d get capital punishment for a guilty plea.
oh as an aside, you admitting you were wrong about what Ruairi was insinuating yet, since he’s now told you that you were?

Well... Where do you start with that?

IMO it’s very bizarre philosophically for any society to take the following position... “It’s wrong to kill someone. Therefore, if you choose not to follow that guideline, we’ll kill you.”

The myth behind long prison sentences
Does spending ‘100 years’ behind bars actually help deter crime? BBC Future explores the impact of long prison sentences, and looks at how Norway is taking an opposite approach.
anyone who is in favour of that absolutely garbage punishment, should defo watch the life of david gale https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0289992/ and come back
