Okay, then:

Ex-Minneapolis police officer Derick Chauvin saw at least 10 conduct complaints during his 19-year tenure before he was fired Tuesday, according to a database that documents complaints against police. In particular, he was involved in the shooting death of a man who had stabbed other people before attacking police, as well as some other undisclosed complaints. Klobuchar did not prosecute Chauvin and other officers involved for the first death, which occurred in October 2006 while she was running for Senate. The case was under investigation when Klobuchar took office in the Senate in Jan. 2007, and later went to a grand jury, which declined to charge the officers... ...Klobuchar "declined to bring charges in more than two dozen cases in which people were killed in encounters with police" as Hennepin County attorney. Instead, she "aggressively prosecuted smaller offenses" that "have been criticized for their disproportionate effect on poor and minority communities"....

Some of that reporting is crazy - if the reports of the 2006 shooting are accurate, cops on nearly every country on earth would have shot someone doing that.

Not immediately. Reports are saying that he put on his makeup, big red nose and colourful oversized shoes first

Here's the alt-right argument being made here.

Amy Klobuchar, a former state attorney (basically, state prosecutor) in Minnesota, had multiple opportunities to discipline and/or terminate the officer whose knee caused the death of George Floyd. At each of these, she declined to discipline this guy. She is currently under consideration for the VP slot, coincidentally. We can change the 'is' to 'was' in the preceding sentence, I think.

The case the alt-right makes is that public service unionized employees (including first responders like Derek Chauvin) and the Democrats are partners in progress, from a political perspective. The kind of harsh discipline associated with the alt-right and Republicans would have sent this guy down the road and out of the force years ago, but that would have upset police union advocates who have more clout in the Minnesota DFL party than their base generally realizes. (This part is the dirty secret concealed in the package.) Like most arguments on either side, it sounds specious unless it fits into the socket in one's thinking that already believes that this is true.

If this information comes from the left, it is described as "investigative journalism." If it comes from the right, it is described as "conspiracy theory."

edit - changed job description of Klobuchar from AG to state attorney.
Regardless of political persuasion, prosecutors are reticent to bring charges against the police for many, obvious, reasons. With respect, it's a massive deflection from reality to bring up public service unionized employees, equate them with "police unions" and associate them all with one party or another exclusively.

There are police unions that backed Cheeto in 2016 and there are unions that back his re-election today. Surveys of active-duty police showed Cheeto had nearly 2-1 support v Hillary Clinton. The local Fire Department union here in SA backed the lunatic right-wing candidate for mayor (lunatic because he is a lunatic, not because he's right-wing) since the left-leaning mayor here wasn't buckling under to their outrageous demands.

I've not done the research but I'd guess it's far more likely a left-leaning prosecutor would bring charges against a police officer than would a right-leaning prosecutor.

post all the funny gifs you want, you voted him in and for all you're highfalutin posturing on here, you haven't exactly shown any contrition for that,
To show contrition, one must feel contrite. Trump is a distraction, and his opponents are so blinded by hatred of him they can't see anything else. That's the part you are missing, and it's pointless for me to explain.

Remember, I'm not a progressive and I'm not apologizing for that. Don't sit on a hot stove waiting for it. You're talking to a cranky, stubborn old man.

The roots of our current situation go back to the world order set up at the end of WW2. America has played a role in the world that our populace is no longer willing to sustain until and unless the republic is under existential threat. This is its own subject that can be opened up in its own thread but Trump is the product of this, not the source.

The ability of the usual organs of the media to gin up the existential threat has been enervated since the events of 9/11, Afghanistan, Iraq, and the other Forever Wars. The people generating the narrative you consume via media haven't seen that yet, and the filters through which most folks see the world are pretty much unaware of it. If you have felt that America is too involved with the rest of the world, you should be happy with things to come, long term.

America's position at present is much like the Empire at the end of the first Great War.

Here's my advice. Trump is the twenty-first century version of Andrew Jackson. Leave him alone and he'll leave you alone. If you challenge him to a duel, you have to kill him with the first shot or die yourself.

A sound point. You would think your last line would have been borne out, but that's not the case. It would likely take an expert in MN politics to explain the reasons why, and I'm not that guy.

What is clear is that the MPD is a dumpster fire.
