If you are scared of cops bud, I can’t convince you otherwise. Like trying to convince someone to practice religion who is an atheist
Where, exactly, have I said I'm scared of 'cops'?

The only people who need firearms are those who work in professions that might require their use. For example, soldiers in combat zones, special branches of police like armed response etc. They're basically the absolute last option used to resolve an issue.

They're not for fat virgins with mullets and homo-erotic fantasies to carry round in public.

If you'd like to discuss this further just fire a couple of rounds into the ceiling.

Ph sorry that’s @JimmyJeffers. Sorry I’m on my phone painting my house.

May I ask where you from? For context?

Oh I’ve said I don’t encourage it but if they are on a public sidewalk, they are more than happy to. As long as they don’t shoot at the house or break the law they are fine. Cops were out monitoring the situation. I just believe in the consituation

I am a Brit and your gun thing does spook us a bit. But its your issue, not ours.

That said, being as you are happy as long as they dont shoot at the house, can you explain why they actually have guns with them?

And please dont say the constitution.

from what I’ve been seeing, they don’t like the government trying to take away certain freedoms and pushing agendas.

From Liverpool, now living near Melbourne. The only people I know who own guns in this country hunt animals and adhere to proper, strict regulations. No automatic weapons/handguns. And armed police of course, but my mate who has been a police detective for over 20 years has never fired his weapon whilst on duty, and has only drawn it once. This is considered normal.

So you agree they were carrying them for intimidation purposes then.

Ready to get violent if need be.

The.issue they were "protesting" is a stay at home order created to protect them from a virus. Not the threat of a militia.

You probably believe in PARTS of the constitution. Because there are a shockingly high number of people who see nothing wrong with flagrant violations like the Emoluments Clause being completely ignored.

The idea that something written almost 250 years ago is infallible is terrible logic. The constitution also assumed all would put country before party (in fact Washington specifically said parties shouldn't exist) and act in good faith. Only one side is even attempting that right now..

Thats exactly why it spooks us.

We are more likely to write a letter to a newspaper, then have a cup of tea.
Oh I agree that’s the better route. I look at it like abortion (I know complete off topic). I don’t agree with it but I agree with peoples right to do it. That’s my issue with a lot. I may not agree but I’ll fight for the freedom to do so. I don’t think toting around guns in the streets sets a great example but they have a right to do so (in some states). As long as its peaceful I’m all for it. Just my thing.

They don’t need a reason. It’s law. Simple.
While I've read your further posts and I appreciate (understand) your own personal stance, I can't help but feel that this rather common response is... well... glib.

I've said previously said it multiple times, mainly in the mass-shooting thread, but I do not believe that you should always do something simply because you can.

Carrying semi-automatic, high capacity firearms into a capitol building is reckless, and I can only suspect that they did so to intimidate other members of the public.

Why else would they do it? Even if they're trying to display their rights, I'm sure they could have chose more sensible or less hostile examples.

Also like @riddick rightly mentioned, I suspect that there are a fair few parts of the almost sacred constitution that the population are less likely to zealously defend.

I've seen examples where people walk past schools with rifles on their back (in open carry states) and look to attract the interest of the police, mainly to find faults.

Can people not see that this is wrong, antagonistic and more likely to lead to an unnecessary confrontation? The same can be said to how these protesters act.

I really don't understand the whole American culture of firearms, but each to their own; however, even within the current laws the culture needs totally changing.

There's many other countries in the world where firearms laws are available to the majority of the population, but the US is well ahead with how their misused.

To put it another way, I strongly believe in parts of the UK justice system, but I wouldn't maintain a blanket approach to this - if bits need changing, then change it.

The US constitution with its amendments - errr, so it can be changed - shouldn't be rigidly followed as if it's own dogma if bits morally should be revised.

Anyway, back to the topic at hand... Trump is an idiot!
