An ex-Queen’s Gurkha Signals was security at Aintree and he was told specifically told not to allow anyone in without ID - under any circumstances.

The reason being was that the Princess Royal was attending, and unsurprisingly she didn’t have ID. Anyway, he refused to let her in and it was a bit of a furore.

The moral of the story is that he couldn’t give a toss who she was because they were the rules. The clinic should have acted exactly the same.
