Trump doesn't lend himself to usual political rules.

My view is his base that won him the election hasn't moved an inch and his exposure will bring in more swing voters, so that he'll probably win more bigly this time.

I'm aware the polls suggest it's close, but I simply don't believe them.

I take no joy in making such a prediction by the way - at this point I think anyone voting for Trump is mentally ill.

i don't think any presidential election has ever had both candidates be so ill-fitting of office.

we all sure thought W Bush was the nadir, but even his elections had respectable opponents...maybe his winning both of them despite being an airhead was a sign of the Idiocracy to come.

Now I know that Trump has the emotional intelligence of a spoilt 3 year old child and his very recent exploits are unparalleled but we need to talk about Biden possibly not being as sharp as he used to be. lol lol
A baked bean would be a less dangerous president than Trump. Focussing on his opponents flaws is a not so subtle way of endorsing Trump. I think Biden is a douche but he is without doubt the better option here ffs.

I dunno. Can’t believe he even gets 40% approval ratings. Many people must think that everything is ok as long as their wages are going up and they can upgrade their fridge. It’s a price worth paying

Yeah but that's the biggest counter-argument against Trump - actual competence.

If your candidate has doubts over that and is basically a less well known old fella who says and does stupid things now and then, then what chance does he have when his opponent has 100x the exposure and 1000x the committed base.

The Dems haven't learned from Hilary - you need someone to vote for as well as someone to vote against. As it is they're just hoping enough people are sick of Trump to swing it rather than having people be enthused about Biden.

They needed a young and vibrant candidate for sure. Would really show Trump up. But like you say, what series of events could possibly change your average Trump supporter’s mind at this point? If they are still unsure as to how to vote they have serious issues.

There is no way to swing Trumps base. That's why I'm saying it's more important to enthuse your own rather than convert zealots, so you get a snowball effect of momentum and convert swing voters. Its the reality TV era - you need a marketable candidate that people like, whereas Biden is... likeable I guess in some way but in others he's woefully lacking.

If I was American, I'd be voting for Biden but with no enthusiasm.
 
Is there anyone out there (or on here more accurately) that intends to vote passionately either vote for Trump or Biden? And latter can't just be "to get rid of Trump"?

You’re right his base isn’t budging. One difference from 2016 might be in GOPs that voted 3rd party last time especially never Trump types. We need them to vote Dem.
Also need Sanders to actually get the Bernie Bros to vote for Biden as well as good voter turn out in the swing states.

There's that equating thing again. Biden is fit for office, he held the second highest one for 8 years. He may only be marginally fit for office, but it's a matter of degrees. Trump isn't fit to sit in the shallow end of a swimming pool unsupervised
