We socialize the risk/cost for the most expensive, most likely to need care and have a free-market for those less likely to need hospitalization so a very small number of people can profit off of rationing care when it is, in fact, needed by those people.
I doubt you and I were raised different but clearly have a different viewpoint on the efficiency/wisdom of this system.
I like how we price folks out of decent or any healthcare most of their lives so that they are a mass of long term poorly controlled conditions by the time they become Medicare eligible or go on disability because of a stroke or MI. Only then do we give them healthcare. Makes total sense.
