I made this same argument with @Tubey earlier. His counter was that we never were under immediate threat of a Muslim invasion. He also conceded that we were never actually were in imminent danger of a Japanese invasion but nobody knew that at the time.

The mental gymnastics folks do to avoid saying I was wrong is staggering.

All giving the 9/11 comparison does is show a fundamental, laughable lack of understanding as to what the point of interrment was. It wasn't to "lock up a race of people just because" - it was because of the threat of subversion in the event of an invasion.

Unless a massive Islamic nation with a superb navy was encamped on the coast of the US who had just committed an act of war, then the two situations are utterly different. Pretending they are the same is ironically a prime example of mental gymnastics, as it's an attempt to equate two situations that are completely different for the purpose of undermining an argument.

Ah OK. So....... Japanese-Americans in 1941 were all potential fifth-columnists, but Arab-Americans in 2001 were all sound, in spite of the fact that the 9/11 perpetrators had already spent many months in the USA planning and preparing their attack?

I don't want to get warned for being off topic, so last reply on this - no, we have intelligence services in place for terrorism; the USA wasn't in a state of war with a nation at the time of 9/11, they were at war with a group.

The perceived Japanese threat was subversion in the event of an imminent possible invasion from a nation state. I'm sorry but if you can't see the very obvious differences between the two situations I can't help you as I'm pretty sure you're choosing to not see it.
