Was at a business dinner tonight with a load of Republicans (they know I'm the token Dem in the group). As usual I took a bunch of crap from them but when the banter got more serious, several of them said if the Dems would run a candidate that wasn't a left-loony they'd consider voting against Cheeto. So I asked them, "what about Biden?" Not much excitement. Then I asked, "what if Biden chose Admiral McRaven as VP?" Almost to a man (sorry, all men at the table) they said that would do the trick.

All the Trumps have to do is convince their base. The rest of the right will ignore it or say the left are clutching straws over nothing or simply keep quiet.

So despite the evidence their base will say it's the fake media and thus it's a conspiracy and the pictures are doctored or some mad theory.

We've got to an extremely strange place with politics all over the world where you can just flat out lie in the face of concrete proof and nobody in the news media (on any side) will publicly front up with evidence and ask you to explain it.

Mitch McConnell took an oath to be impartial, walks straight out of the room and says "I have no intention of being impartial". And nobody calls him a liar to his face.

I despair.

I said it before on here. The press won't challenge because they worry they will lose access thus their jobs. The left won't challenge because they are always trying to "play their cards" and i honestly believe the whole "they go low, we go high" was not just Clinton's motto.

I do enjoy watching the combination of disbelief and anger of the associated press pack on the rare occasions Kelly Anne Conway is put up for a presser. They have no problem ripping her to shreds.

But I would love to see one journo go down in a blaze of glory by taking a McConnell or Giuliani forensically to task on TV.

You can go after the likes off her as she clearly is cannon fodder for the inner circle. Shes a pawn on the chess board. She's only survived because she can fight back better than the others released from their duties. Not that anything she says is anymore coherent. She always comes across like a soccer mom having a bad day and not getting that parking spot.

But go after someone important would be a different matter it seems.

It's a shame John Oliver is off the air at the moment because his "Stupid Wategate" (Like Watergate, but everyone involved is too dumb to cover their tracks) series is hilarious.

You want to get NC electoral votes like Obama did, two old white guys aren't gonna do it.

Only candidate I would consider on the left would be Amy Klobuchar. I like what she stands for on the mental health side since I work in the field. Also I think she outlined a reduction in drug prices, school drug issues, and a few other things. If she could come a bit closer to the "middle" she could pull it off. Bernie, Warren, Biden are to far gone imo

Out of interest, what is "too far gone" about Warren? Or Biden for that matter.

So let's assume Klobuchar doesn't get the nomination (because, well, she won't)... does your post above mean you'll be voting for the orange racist, misogynist lunatic?
