That isn’t the aim here.

2.Yes the clear attempt to get dirt on his apponent when there is much much worse they could go after him for. Maybe not be as sexy as ‘colluding with Russians’ or now ‘with Ukrainians’. It’s only going to end in a backlash on Biden and the democrats. Much more sickening things he is responsible for and needs to be nailed and have it dragged in the media than the this stupid stuff. If you want to at least hurt reelection chances.

The Democrats biggest problem seems to be “those pesky democrats”. If I may quote you.

This particular issue was what finally tipped them over the edge into pursuing impeachment for a couple of reasons:

1) It’s NatSec related
2) It can be tied into a lot of the other behaviours you talk about
3) It was recent/ongoing
4) It could be concisely explained to the public
5) it allowed for the argument of “we need to do this now rather than wait for Nov 2020 because if we don’t we can’t guarantee that election will be a fair one.

And to be honest, it’s been pretty well executed, as is shown in the polling (both general and impeachment-related) and the lost “opportunity cost” to Trump

Lots of people seem to think they should have tried to impeach him over the Yemen/Saudi thing as it’s supposedly way more clear cut.

There is nothing more clear cut than this Ukraine issue. Trump literally released a transcript himself that shows 100% guilt.

The only thing that made this case odd/weird to cover is that the smoking gun was literally the first thing released. It’s like having a murder mystery where they reveal the killer in the first chapter.

Time to put extra pressure on the GOP senators from purple states.

Mitch McConnell will be the biggest villain at the end of the day for me. He has ruined our democracy. The Senate is meant for the adults to be present in the room. This is where the hard work is done and compromise is achieved.

McConnell has chosen to make it a tiny little house. Our country should never forgive him for saying his #1 goal in his office was to make Obama a one term president.

The Senate has to be bigger than that to function properly.

50/50 votes in the Senate have no place. It ruins democracy. They are supposed to be better than than. 60/40 makes sure that most Americans are represented in a Republic.

His damage might be irreparable.
