Probably not no.House of Representatives is controlled by Democrats.
The Senate is controlled by GOP, they won’t convict.
I'm not sure if anyone expects them to convict but if Trump is impeached it will be with good reason and any republicans who find him innocent will have a hard job being taken seriously.
This is way different to the Clinton impeachment.
The senate has unanimously called for Trump to release the whistleblower complaint, which he is illegally refusing to do.
I think it's a 2/3 majorityAnyone know if it is a simple majority in the Senate to convict?
Yeah 2/3 to convict. So you need like 18 Republicans to vote him outAnyone know if it is a simple majority in the Senate to convict?
Think this will open the floodgates but an excellent point by AOC - Trump didnt do this on his own, he was assisted or enabled
Yeah 2/3 to convict. So you need like 18 Republicans to vote him out
An incredible young woman, the way she brushes off the nonsense that has been thrown at her with dignity and logic is great to watchShe's genuinely quite excellent isn't she?
Probably not no.
But a few factors raise a bit of uncertainty. This is a pretty easily explained issue to voters -Trump appears to have asked a foreign government for help against a political rival, He may also have used US military aid as a threat, either implicit or explicit, to try to get that foreign governments cooperation. He also appears have got his own DOJ to suppress a whistleblower trying to bring the issue to congress attention.
Not many senators, even GOP ones, are going to like being questioned on the latter two issues in particular - a lot of times they have waved questions away with “don’t know details” but they can’t do that with a vote.
This is also an occasion where Biden being a long standing Senator who generally got on well with Republicans might make a small difference.
