Current Affairs Donald Trump POS: Judgement cometh and that right soon

"Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

Seems to have had a less poetic rewrite doesn’t it?
The Lou Reed variant does seem a lot more pertinent now:
"Give me your hungry, your tired, your poor, I'll p*ss on them.
That's what the Statue of Bigotry says.
Your poor, huddled masses, let 's club 'em to death
And get it over with
And just dump them on the boulevard"

From Dirty Blvd on his New York album.

Pretty sure migrant kids being kept in so called "concentration camps" constitutes a crisis, mate

I agree though - the GOP are just as much to blame. But so are the Dems, will you accept that?

Dems, including Hillary Clinton and Obama, voted for a border wall in 2006 - now the very notion of a wall is racist. Go figure

Why won't Dems vote for the deal for extra funding for more border resouces that Republicans have proposed?
Migrant kids being kept in "concentration camps" is a policy decision, not a border crisis. It could be ended today with the stroke of a pen by the one man who is responsible for the decision.

Voting for fencing or wall in areas where appropriate can be reasonably debated. See how easy that is? Reasonable people can have discussion with intent to solve issues. It is decidedly not a position of reason to demonize human beings from south of the US border and beat one's chest about building a wall along the border that not only will Mexico pay for but is touted as a legitimate solution to the issue of a broken immigration system. I ask again, why won't the POTUS and House Republicans address comprehensive immigration policy?

@ilikecheese responded well when he said there are many on the political right who do not want change that works. They want division for political and financial considerations.

As someone who loves the USA and it’s people, I find it incredibly sad that the levels of polarisation and anger from left and right are dividing your country.......Right or wrong, Trump is your President and probably will be after the next election...

Acknowledging he is the POTUS does not preclude me or any other American from criticizing him or his policies.

As someone who loves his country I will do everything within my power, legally, to ensure he won't be POTUS after the next election. Not at all sure why you would say he "probably will be" unless that is what you desire.

I think you and others seriously underestimated the guy, and continue to do so. While some attempt to demonise him by reference to the wall, immigration etc, remember the last guy also did similar and sent a lot of people back. I believe Trump will get in again by using one of Bill Clinton’s phrases “it’s the economy, stupid”......

Who would have thought.
On reading this topic for the first time in a while, and it's still the same old posters throwing about the same old stuff.
@toffy, @adversus, @LiamG must be hiding amongst some other posters.

It's disappointing to see that TDS is still alive and well.
I guess it is such great concern to some of you that there exists more than one person who doesn't share the same opinions or beliefs as yourself that to make it better you want it to be the one person using multis.
It's laughable and pathetic.

This topic now and has been for a long time somewhere for people to just gather and post and discuss anything that is anti-trump and talk about how bad he is doing. Dare to suggest otherwise or present your opinion and it's not in line with the SJW of the left, you get shouted down, labelled a bigot, racist, idiot and others.

I don't post much at all, preferring to read through this forum every now and then when time would permit, but this topic in particular and some others really put an end to that.

I thought this is meant to be a place to discuss topics and at times debate. From what I can tell this topic is anything but and hasn't been for a while.

Anyway @St. Domingo , do yourself a favor and give yourself a rest from this topic. You'll be amazed at what it'll do for you. Such constant negativity is not good for anyone. You're not going to engage in healthy debate here whilst suggesting Trump does some good. After all, the evils of America are solely down to him.

As for me, when I visit again I'll know what to expect:
- you sure you're not @toffy
- watches fox news (kinda difficult when I don't have it as a channel on my TV, but hey)

Talks about lack of healthy debate whilst not actually countering/debating any of the points people have made in this thread. Instead, you've come out swinging with the most generic post ever which includes the use of the made-up term 'TDS', the term that people tend to use when they don't want to actually debate the reasons why people think Trump is a terrible president/person. TDS is the boomer version of Orange Man Bad.

How so, underestimated? Remember, he is POTUS by a quirk of the system - not desire of the electorate.

2018 was the worst year for the major stock indexes in the US since the financial crisis of 2008. Income and wage inequality continues to get worse. Midwest farmers don't want subsidies from the government, they want markets to sell crops (tariffs don't help)...

Usually to make that argument you have to be able to point to something you’ve done to markedly CHANGE the course of the economy.

You know... like Obama did.

Yep, I have no idea who "toffy" is. I'm not someone's alias account, either. Been on this forum since 2016, and before that under another name that I lost my password to (never posted anywhere but on the Everton threads under it). I didn't realise this thread was by invite only, that you had to be another Trump hating sheep to have a valid opinion. I've only posted half a dozen times and I've already been insulted countless times, told to stop watching Fox, told I'm clueless, and all this from other blues. I mean, who needs kopites!

The hate in America at the moment, it's all coming from one place: the left. They hate Trump, and they hate absolutely anyone who supports him, even their own family members. I've seen it first hand, I've seen best mates basically stop speaking to each other over Trump. And as for telling me to step outside my bubble, practically everyone I know, including my own wife, doesn't like Trump - they didn't vote for him and won't do so again. I'm surrounded by people who tell me everyday how horrible he is. And where I live in South Florida, it's very Democratic/blue. This isn't Trump land by any stretch. I wonder how many on this thread could day the same about Trump supporters or Republicans, how many Trump supporters who actually voted for him do you know? Ever had a civil conversion with them to understand their point of view? Course not, because it's too easy to call them racists. Too easy to tell yourselves they're wrong and you're right. That's what being in a bubble means - it means group think, everyone agreeing with each other, no one daring to question anything. And that's what this thread basically is - just sheep saying the same crap over and over, using dubious Twitter posts to justify their points of view. Trump haters like Chris Hayes or AOC don't back up anything, try using someone in the middle who clearly isn't a Trump hating stooge. Want to hate Trump for the migrant crisis at the border? Fine, but ask how and why it's happening - ask why the left, the Democrats won't vote for the funding bill that Republicans have put forward that would help alleviate it!
You so clearly didn’t read the substantive part of my post regarding the difference between Trump’s border policy and the policy of previous administrations. Instead you play the aggrieved victimized “centrist” who strangely keeps parroting right wing talking points.

I'm having trouble squaring this remark up with the "Just because you're poor, you don't have the right to come to America." Do you hate the poor?

The Dems DID NOT vote for a border wall in 2006. Please do your homework. Border fencing has always been present in some areas since 1994 or so, and the vote in 2006 was to expand the fencing. What Trump is proposing is a wall, which is very different in cost and scale versus a fence.

What is "racist" is not so much the wall (the wall is just a stupid waste of money), but how its being sold by racist Trump: can you please point to a quote where Obama called central Americans/Mexicans "rapists" "animals" "drug dealers"? You cannot...but I can link to numerous occasions where Trump's racists rhetoric has been directly linked to violence against non-whites/hispanics in this country. Again, what you are parroting is Fox News talking points regarding the 2006 vote, as this is something Mulvaney (White House Budget director) said on Fox News Sunday.

The Dems won't vote for more border "resources" because some of those resources are going towards punitive treat-immigrants-as-criminals agendas. I wouldn't vote to give a president a blank check when he categorically refers to nations as "animals" or uses needlessly inflamed rhetoric, when in fact the only major study to look at the economic influence of immigrants has concluded they are not an economic drain on the country over the long-run.

Gee, can’t see why some might be polarized against the President - quite how are we meant to feel about someone with over 20 sexual assault accusations?
