But hes a brilliant business man. Isnt he???

To be fair he's a good salesman and he's worked out who actually votes and is selling them what they want to hear. I guess that’s pretty much Marketing 101 summed up, don’t think it’s an effective way to better society though.

One reason Trump gave for the steel and aluminium tariffs was that he wanted a "better NAFTA". He claims he got that with USMCA and yet the tariffs on steel and aluminium imports from Canada and Mexico remain. Since Canada is the biggest US supplier of both metals it has huge impacts on domestic producers for no discernible reason unless Trump really thinks he can recreate a domestic steel and aluminium industry.

I guess he has his base so invested in the America first idea so he’s going to try it and not worry about the cost to other existing industries.

It is what people voted for I guess but feel like it will be a tough sell a little down the line when the average joe is paying more for consumer goods, subsidising the bailouts and the industry they work in is suffering as well.

Wears a jacket to send a message, gets upset when jacket is noticed and the message is commented on, her staff flat out lie
"It's a jacket. There was no hidden message. After today's important visit to Texas, I hope the media isn't going to choose to focus on her wardrobe," East Wing communications director Stephanie Grisham told CNN in a statement.
Thinking you are the real victim when you are visiting kids separated from their parents by your husband’s policies says an awful lot about a person.

Such thoughtless, hypocritical comments from her. Certainly she is striving to "be best"...the latter, her bizarre campaign (lifted in suspiciously similar detail from some old Obama era document) to, among other things, stifle internet bullying. Imagine being married to Bully-in-Chief and trying to tell children that it's not okay to bully people online. FFS.

I particularly liked the touch of saying don’t focus on what I wear whilst doing the interview in Africa cosplaying a colonialist complete with pith helmet that was conspicuously placed in the front of the shot,

Seriously?!? It's now gotten to a point where they're not even trying to put in the effort to disguise their blatantly obvious trolling as genuine acts of human decency anymore.

Trump won. He got his supreme court nominee confirmed. The actual intricate facts that make up the saga don't matter. He won, so now he's gonna shove it the faces of all the 'losers' and 'haters' who dared to defy him.

Just the other day he openly mocked the whole #metoo movement in a rally. And it's just gonna get worse now... FFS!

Trump's arguably the strongest President of the post-War era. Seriously. Strong in the sense of getting his own way despite countless obstacles, strong in the sense of having the people and policies of his choice in place. Other Presidents always had the system in the way of getting their own way.

Strongman = strong. Impressive stuff we all have to admit.

Erm he almost certainly does whatever his advisors tell him to do on just about every major issue... thats the side effect of not being a politician and having literally no clue or knowledge about politics, economics or anything thats actually useful to a president. He's in way over his head and he's not about to start learning about this stuff at the age of 70. He's there to blow hot air, stoke up his followers and basically be the face of other peoples agenda. His portrayed image by the right wing media is that of a strong man but anyone who has ever heard him talk about any political issue knows damn well he doesn't really have the first clue what he's talking about, he's there for the ride and to be the face of it. He will more or less try and do whatever he thinks will make him popular with his base, thats his end goal... an endless quest to be adored... doesn't sound very strong to me, sounds pretty needy.

Dude, you can't have a different train of thought. You're not meant too. It scares them. (Kanye West for example).

I gave up reading/posting in this topic a while back, but thought I'd check back in to see what's happening. The same old stuff. If you like Trump you're automatically sexist, racist, anti-immigrant etc. It's tiring, stupid and does nothing for healthy debate.

You'll be better off leaving this topic so they can continue moaning day in day out about Trump and how terrible he is and how bad the USA is getting. It doesn't end for them. No positive thought at all. Unless it's about the midterms, then we'll see a change they believe. And if it doesn't work out how they want, then they assert the US is going backwards. Is looking like a joke on the international stage. I could go on, but I won't. It'll upset some and I thought I'd only offer my two cents as I do enjoy your opinions etc.

I try not to be too harsh on them, mate. It's a bit of an addiction to bash Trump but I'm sure they only mean well

You said people have to admit he's a strongman... are we meant to just agree with such a ridiculous statement when all the evidence suggests otherwise ?

Toffy's amazing logic seems to suggest that countering someones points is basically the equivalent of telling someone 'you can't have a different train of thought to me' lol

Are we just meant to agree even if we disagree ?

He is a "strongman". A strongman dictator.

He is subverting our democracy.

McConnell being just as guilty. Changing the senate rules to achieve "wins" for Trump.

Our system of checks and balances has been forever altered by his presidency.
