Putin is nobody's victim. "Cold War politics" is nonsense - Russia is as integrated with the West as the leadership wishes it to be. Much of Europe depends on Russian energy to stay warm, and Europe's (and to a lesser extent America's) financial centres have reaped unprecedented windfalls laundering all of the capital needed to fund Russian domestic development, after it's exported by Putin-approved oligarchs. Knightsbridge and the Premier League as we know it would vanish tomorrow without our willingness - for at least two decades before Trump's election - to accomodate all of this, at everyday Russians' expense. The problem isn't that the West has been too distant - quite the opposite: we've been all too eager to facilitate Putin & friends' corruption. They'd have plenty of places outside the West to turn for foreign investment, if they wanted it, but they're earning all that they need and then some on their own. NATO expansion was undoubtedly hasty and needlessly provocative, but you're describing Russia like it's a confused child living on the streets in need of a warm meal and a helping hand. If anything, given the Americans' latest Presidential concoction, it's the reverse.
As for Ho Chi Minh.... if I start talking about Vietnam this thread will become even more of a quagmire then it already is. I don't think either the comparison, or my response, is of any relevance. France understood him perfectly well though - but was dirt poor and faced with domestic opposition to the war from the outset.
At the risk of being a bit of a pedent, the men you're looking for are Vo Nguyen Giap and above all, Le Duan. Ho Chi Minh (ike Donald Trump, in all likelihood) was always much more of a figurehead in more cunning people's more cunning plots - though at least unlike The Donald, he knew how to be a gentleman about it.

Yea, he questioned your sanity after you posted your view on Trumps approach to Russia. At which point you said chaos was a good strategy and that it worked in the war of independence. Have I missed something or are we playing 'make it up as we go along'

Imagine keeping a 10 year-old girl captive, in complete light and out of touch with the time of day, simply because her mother brought her to the USA for better opportunities.
If this girl was Norwegian and her mom traveled by boat to the USA in some sort of hard-knocks storied journey, the media would eat it up, especially Hannity, Carlson, and some of the other don't-call-me-racist-becuause-I-never-said-"n_gger"-in-my-life racists at FOX news. But they don't understand how they can be labeled as such because, to them, racists are people who write the word "n_gger" with a capital N on a large sign at a Charlottesville demonstration; as long as you don't do this, you are not a racist. But make no mistake about it: because her skin is darker than white (you can't control how the sun's UV rays have affected your ancestor's skin pigmentation), she is in a prison.
And it goes without saying that a 10 year-old Honduran girl is obviously the major threat to our democracy and security, it is definitely not Trumputin.

I think there was some mention of Jesus waterboarding Gentile men and separating their children from mothers for minor infractions of the law. Perhaps in the Gospel of Mark? Maybe John?
