Current Affairs Donald Trump POS: Judgement cometh and that right soon

Sorry but there really is no other word to describe people, if that is honestly what they think.

The JCPOA was an agreement of the entire world, or at least all the world that actually matters, and it was both being adhered to and had years of tough measures left in it. It was about as far away from Munich as it is possible to be.

The Treaty of Versailles was broken almost immediately by Germany, and German rearmament led directly to WW2.

I see that Israel is now preparing for a possible attack from Iran. If that happens there will be no Iranian nuclear issue as Israel will just flatten the place.....

The concerns about this deal were almost exclusively “it doesn’t go far enough”.

The sensible solution to that is not blowing up the deal with little to no prospect of negotiating anything better in its place.

It’s the equivalent of deciding your team doesn’t score enough goals and responding to that by releasing all your attacking players while the transfer window is closed

But do we, ultimately? My instinct is to agree, let's do the renegotiation window and set the table for additional concessions from Iran. That's the political and foreign policy paradigm I'm from.

Trump would likely respond that given we very rarely enforce our "red lines," the entity across the table doesn't find us credible and won't believe our bolder threats. Which is...absolutely correct. It would be six months wasted and if we got better terms, they wouldn't be the best terms available.
Which is exactly why he should do this. For his ego as the deal-maker and defender of the United States, setting forth a negotiation stance and time frame, then choosing to walk away if what he sees as our best interest is not met would actually be a play from strength in his world. He could legitimately claim that he gave substantive negotiations a shot and it was time to get out. Plus he could use those 6 months to build domestic support in the public and in Congress for pulling out.

But all that would take a coordinated policy and implementation staff - which he doesn't have the patience or skills to build or let someone build for him.

It's the equivalent of blowing up a fledgling team and starting fresh, unencumbered by bad contracts and attitudes. Which is something we should know about, honestly.

Trump has his moment now, much like North Korea. By the way, I noticed nobody is concerned about the imminent threat of nuclear war on the Korean peninsula at the moment, which is interesting.

We had no leverage to renegotiate because nobody believes the US when we make bold pledges.

I won't go so far as to disagree because I'm not sure I do disagree. But I'm open to the possibility that my worldview of doing things like this doesn't work in a world where nobody ever follows through with their threats.

From a political perspective, Trump would never obtain the support of media or Democrats in that scenario either.

And of course it was Israel's intelligence that Trump used to justify the move. Intelligence that was counter to our own intelligence.

If you don't see this for exactly what it is, a distraction, then you are being disingenuous.

I think there are all kinds of motives at play, and I never, ever ignore the possibility that Israel is telling half a story to get the US to back Israel's play. But I don't think any primary motivation here is to distract.

What do you think this is a distraction from, anyway? Record-low unemployment? Tax surpluses? Landmark North Korea success? If you think Trump is going to overshadow legitimate advances in US interests because of Stormy Daniels or a wrapping-up Mueller investigation, you've got to be kidding.

Like the threats Trump made during his announcement?

Well imagine my shock

“They will enrich uranium more than before”....meaning that they were doing it anyway. It looks like Israel and Trump were right on this and that Europe, as usual, were just looking at business opportunities........

It’s looking like there will be a major conflict in the Middle East now, and while Iran will want to pull in Russia and China they will publicly make a big fuss but privately do nothing of any substance. Iran will have a choice, continue, do a real deal, or be hit.......
