The Presidential Personnel Office—which is in charge of recruiting and vetting thousands of political appointees for the Trump administration—is woefully understaffed and filled with inexperienced employees, many of whom are still in their twenties, according to an investigation by The Washington Post. The newspaper found that only about 30 staffers work in the office—despite vacancies in key posts—and some are friends or family members of officials. Two senior staffers have been arrested in the past—including a college dropout who was busted on charges of drunken driving and bad checks. A Marine Corps reservist who works in the office has also been arrested for assault, disorderly conduct, and fleeing an officer, according to the newspaper. “No administration has done it as poorly as the current one,” Max Stier, president and chief executive of the Partnership for Public Service, said of the Trump administration's appointment process.

Tbf I’d need to guzzle bottles of Smirnoff to work there and it seems one of the rare White House offices where they like their co-workers!

Setting aside my numerous and significant policy differences with our President, one of the most disappointing things is HOW this government has been run since his inauguration. The lack of professionalism in carrying out day-to-day activities in the White House and appointed departmental leadership roles is astounding.

I know that many people don't feel that it takes talent or intelligence to work in the government - I don't think those people look honestly or openly at the level of experience and expertise it takes to make the government work effectively. From wildlife experts to trade representatives to experts on international law to personnel hiring practices, our federal government is by necessity a complicated endeavour that requires people who understand it.

We're a nation of over 320 million people, in a world of 7.3 billion with 194 other countries. Bringing in amateurs and putting people in the wrong spot might work for a bankrupt holding company run like a fiefdom in the corporate world, but it certainly doesn't work for the USA.

Forget the Smirnoff, it's Laphroaig for me tonight.

As soon as he gets another conservative judge into the supreme court the Evangelicals will drop support for him. They wont need Trump after that.

They are playing the long game with him. US laws will back to the 1700's for the foreseeable future.
On the contrary, they'll stick with him. If Trump was impeached he'd be replaced by Mike Pence who really is one of theirs. One would think there is every incentive for them to ditch the dotard.

I'd hope for his demise as he is awful, but Trump's post-firing hires somehow get worse.

I shudder to think what is worse than Pruitt for the EPA.
I wonder if that is what will save him? Pruitt, unlike say Carson at HUD, is enthusiastic and effective at dismantling regulations despite his grifting and it is genuinely hard to think who else would bring such zeal for the job.
