Tbf US polling and UK polling are quite different beasts. Among the differences are greater party polarization, a distinct gender bias, greater ethnic/religious diversity and an electoral college system. Also there is more frequent voting to base polling history on (governor/senate/congress/local) and overall more polls.look at the last few over here general election/EU for a clue how good they are.
However this year there have been about half the public polls and there are more undecideds as a lot of people aren't happy with the two main choices so that does introduce more error than usual into the system.
