2024/25 Dominic Calvert-Lewin

He's rubbish, and he always has been. It was just wishful thinking that convinced some that he'd become an ace slotter once he'd beefed up/slimmed down/was injury free/had better service/got more confident/had some Angel Delight/etc

Its like when people used to worship Niasse, both turd, but anyway, if hes our number 9 next season I will support him fully and I do enjoy every goal he scores.

Do you not think he's improving all the time though? I've always liked him and you can go back probably about 18 months and find me saying that whilst he's far from the complete player, he's somebody who definitely has 'moments' and goals in him. Give us 10-15 moments next season please Beto, and that will do for now.

Well he gave us about 15 this half-season alone.

With the service hopefully improving further he should get double digits easily (I HOPE).

The Everton striker described the emotional breaking point that occurred away from the pitch. “That was a low point for me because I ended up crying. You know, I was on my own on my birthday crying on my bedroom floor.” That moment came weeks before he scored the goal that kept Everton in the Premier League.

He described that goal against Crystal Palace as “just like a relief. Biggest relief ever.” But it was not just a professional reprieve; it was personal salvation. “I put that responsibility on my shoulders, you know. I kind of like thought it’s my responsibility to save everybody, save people’s jobs

Some of these players really do have high opinions of themselves. I remember thinking this in Docuoure’s interview about the Bournemouth game, about how he’s the marquee player so it was on him to do something. If Dom and Doucs were as good as they thought they were in their own heads we wouldn’t have been in half these situations.

That game was the 19th of May. Up until then he'd scored 1 goal from open play all season. 15 starts.
Maybe if he and others had performed just a tiny bit better in the previous 9 months we wouldnt be needing them to turn up and "save" the club.
I suppose it is a Point of view. I'd never say either of them saved the club. They both contributed massively to being there in the first place.
Shout this from the rooftops.

Be arsed celebrating them "scoring the goal that saved us" when there would be no need for saving in the first place had they stayed fit and scored regularly.

This entire recent period is a bought on our proud history that we need to quickly move on from.

23/24 & 24/25. One of the worst finishers in the league both seasons.
Time to move on from him. Seems a decent lad, wish him well.

I liked him at the start, then he looked a bit poo. Improved loads under Moyes and when given more game time, scored some good goals also.

So I really hope he continues to ram my words down my throat.

I liked Dom for us, he was great, then the injuries came and its a shame the legacy he leaves. I just hope everyone can part on good terms and we look back fondly on his good times.

I hope he finds a good club, stays injury free and has a great rest of his career.

I liked DCL and some of his goals were crucial. Let’s not forget though other than a purple patch under Carlo he’s been largely rubbish/unavailable

He’d be decent as a squad player and the type you keep on the right deal for the club. But the lad can’t stay fit to be considered a decent investment.

If someone is prepared to take a gamble on him good luck to them, we shouldn’t be.
