2024/25 Dominic Calvert-Lewin

I’m starting to think we’re retaining him and potentially seeing some of the reasons why. If we retain him on the cheap, he could be a useful 60’ sub. Given his being prone to injury, less time on the pitch should help reduce the odds of getting hurt. Also not needing to be the starter takes away the stress.

Maybe it got into his head, Dyche’s system, not getting much of a chance to play under Moyes’ system, or all of the above. I think there’s still gas in the tank and Dom’s going to find out his stock in the open market has dropped.

A lot of this could be predicated on if we pick up a striker in the window. Dom is on the decline. Everyone sees it except Dom. It’s the story of every athlete, potential, and injury.

Sometimes your career doesn’t go the way you wanted and you’re not a legend. But if you adapt and accept exactly who you are as a player, think of Ashley Young, you can be a useful cog in the machine and enjoy some longevity. All players share a win equally.

I think his positioning is poor to be honest. That is one of the reasons I see Beto being infinitely more effective in the striker role. As I said I would not be opposed to seeing Dom and Beto in a pair. I think it could cause problems. I just don't see him as a lone striker.
