2024/25 Dominic Calvert-Lewin

...he looked very dangerous against  Spurs

It would be moronic to offer him a new contract after everything that has gone down. He is either perpetually injured or getting outscored by Beto. If he even sees a minute this season, see if he can play the support striker role as that is the only future I can see for him here. We need a more consistent player from a fitness and performance standpoint.

I'm not his biggest fan but it does make sense to keep him on a contract if the wages are sensible and he does away with any Billy Big Bollocks notions of being the starting striker.

If he wants to stay as a back up for whoever we sign in the summer then that's fine. We could probably actually get a fee for Beto instead.

We just cannot be giving him large wages and no competition for his starting spot. We've had years of that and they haven't gone well.

Is there a sensible wage that you can justify to pay a center forward who you know from the previous few seasons either picks up too many injuries or when fit could go on a 15 match run without scoring? We`ve been waiting too long to get rid of the dead wood that have been with us through the last 5 years or so, we don`t need to be giving any of them a contract to fill a squad.

He is probably the best striker on the books now. He is not the best goalscorer at the club thas for sure. keeping him costs very little incremental money, replacing him with better costs a lot more.
With twelve out of contract this is one I would expend some calories on a deal for.

Giving him another contract will be a mistake just like the last time we let him sign a new one. He is too injury prone and when he is healthy (rare) he doesn't score enough.
