I posted in this thread a few months ago that this feels like a Dean Ashton situation, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he was retired within the year.

I’m genuinely now starting to wonder if he will ever play another competitive game of football again.

I think he'll play again, but I would be surprised if he was able to sustain any run of games at this level in future, or dread the thought, The Championship.

He'll end up playing on loan in Turkey or the Middle East I think. Perhaps for a limited while and then get out of the game altogether.

Would it be grotesque to wonder if body image considerations may be impacting his pursuit of fitness? Looking good and being fit aren't necessarily the same thing of course and he is a model as well.
