Southgate could have gone out against Colombia, Germany, Senegal, and Switzerland and everyone would have said it was just a continuation of going out against the first decent team England meet. We beat Croatia in the last euros to top the group and then beat Germany in the knockouts and all of a sudden both those teams are crap. They suddenly become rubbish once England beat them.

Southgate is no great shakes but people make out like he’s a complete idiot. He does deserve more respect than he gets

He is a complete idiot, his squad selection was and still is misjointed, the last two games the team didn’t play until we were desperate and behind and then still had them not show any attacking in two extra time periods bar the first minute of the Slovakia one when they scored. It’s a complete and utter fluke that we’re now 90 minutes away from a second straight Euros final when we should have been 90 seconds from deservedly going out 6 days ago

It’s a complete and utter fluke that we’re now 90 minutes away from a second straight Euros final when we should have been 90 seconds from deservedly going out 6 days ago

When it keeps happening you can’t keep calling it a fluke. Since 66 we’ve been in one World Cup semi final and two European semi finals (and one of them was with the 66 team in 1968). So really since that great team it’s one World Cup semi final and one euros semi final in almost 60 years.

Under Southgate in 4 tournaments we’ve gone to a World Cup semi final, a euros final, and we’re in another euros semi final at least. ‘Complete idiots’ don’t keep qualifying for tournaments, getting out the group, getting past lesser teams, winning penalty shoot outs with England. He’s obviously doing something right.

It’s scraping the barrel to point out that any poster on GOT could manage England to semi finals and a final of international tournaments. None of Colombia Germany Senegal Sweden Denmark were bad teams. Not every England manager between Ramsay and Southgate met 1970s Brazil in the knockouts.

They definitely were all bad sides when we played them. Actually Denmark were half decent at that point, so fair play for that one I suppose. We were still better and favourites though.

Southgate is a complete idiot and his club career will confirm as such. In club football you can’t hide behind lucky draws. The wheat from the chaff is sorted.

This tournament has been the easiest route to the last four out of any tournament yet we’ve only won 1 game in 90 minutes and should have lost the other 4
