I agree with you there mate.
He wins against teams he "should" beat, and nearly always loses to other big nations. Almost guaranteed that had he played a Portugal, Brazil, Argentina et al, like previous teams had, his record wouldn't be as good as it has been having beaten Denmark, Switzerland, and Slovakia. You saw how good a manager he was when he was in charge of Middlesborough.
