Does fit-again Leighton Baines deserve to start for Everton at Swansea?

Breaking News:

Leighton Baines hasn't signed a new contract and most pundits believe he is leaving in January.

Ergo we probably won't have him in "the second half of the season".

Ergo only an idiot would drop a player whom has performed brilliantly in his absence.

And El Bob is no idiot.

The pundits reckon he's going?

Oh, well I guess that's it then, he's gone. I mean, when have the pundits ever been wrong?

No mate. Only an idiot would take the pundits' word as gospel.

I'd start Oviedo tonight, start Baines on boxing day against Sunderland (Bring Oviedo on for him later because he probaly won't be ready for a full 90) then I'd have Baines back as our first choice but making sure Oviedo still gets rotated there, more than what he had been. With Delly injured I would now also rotate him through the wings too.

Actually, I agree with the scallies from the Baines Blackburn Taxi Service video:

Play Baines upfront (when big Rom get's tired, like).

Believe me, if Baines starts tomorrow I'll give you all £20 and a signed everton top by every one in the world.

This is Martinez's chance to make a statement about his team selection. Oviedo Baby should keep his place in the side based on his form at the moment. As good as baines is, Oviedo has been playing equal to or better than Baines in the games he's shown. Have we conceded any goals down his flank yet? There are times when Baines doesn't defend the cross well.

Oviedo, then Baines... it's about rotating players in and out over a fixture-packed period. It ain't rocket science.
