Money for AJ and McFadden, Finishing 5th and Qualification for the UEFA Cup along with tv money and still "No money spent". That is a full dossier. Bye for now lads, i hope i have reopened a healthy discussion.

That's no proof we have no money. You are by large the King of the inside out post, you really are mate.

Guys,
I like many others have become frustrated at the seeming lack of inaction in the transfer market but the great thing about this is all the questions being asked:

Did/n't we have money?
Should we have blown it on 1 or 2 or spread it across 5 or 6?

Can't be answered until its too late and:

A. The transfer period ends and we know how much we spent and on who/how many.
B. October/November where we'll be cruising around 5th in the league dreaming of big transfers in January and knocking the RS out of their perinnial 4th spot or in a bad old ding dong relegation stoush.

Hope the thread lasts that long or even better till seasons end so we can see all the I told you so posts.

Don't want to get involved in arguments, merely say it as i see it.

Since January (when we had the smallest squad in the prem) we have sold McFadden and Johnson and released Carsley, Gravesen and Fernandes. Albeit that Grav was useless, that's still 5 players gone from an already thin squad.

Whether we have money or not, I have no idea, but currently, with a week to go in the window, we have only signed one free player.

Now Moyes may have some beauts lined up in the next week and surprise us all, and we'll have forgotten all about the current situation in a fortnights time, but currently, we are in [Poor language removed] street. Our squad is so thin it's see through, the back up is non existent and players are turning us down left right and centre.

Now we may have money or we may not, but what is patently clear is that if we do not sign some quality (not just quantity) then all the building over the last few years will have gone down the drain. The current squad is just a couple more injuries away from looking like a relegation team. What would we do if Yak and Arteta were both out??

Whatever the reasons, and I have no idea why it's happened, Moyes has cocked it up big time so far, and has only 7 days to rescue something from the disaster that has been pre-season. Now he may do that, and I'm sure everyone hopes we'll get Moutinho, MBia, Fernandes or whoever in, but if we only end up with a string of dodgy squaddies to boost the numbers, and no quality, then we will have blown our biggest chance since we blew the Champions League chance, when we also signed pretty much bugger all.

Stupidity, short-sightedness or merely just finance, I don't know what it is, but as a lifelong Everton fan I'm pretty [Poor language removed] off, and await the next week with bated breath. I hope we're not let down!!

well we would think that if the club says we have money then we should beleive them.

but then again , they have contradicted themselves so many times in the past 3 months i dont think anything they say can be taken as gospel anymore.

so we can really only guess how much is available.

newspapers and journo's are highly unreliable but the guardian has a very good success rate where it comes to everton.

according to them , there has been in fighting at board room level for a few months (hence why wyness has walked and carter has been bought back , to mitigate and steady the ship)

they say that we had 15 million and the aj transfer fee of 12 million.

(just becouse we bid 16 million for moutinho doesnt mean we had 16 million in cash right away but we would have had the first payment.)

so we have 27 million if the paper is to be beleived.
we have 2 stumbling blocks , 1. we need 7 players and not enough money to buy the quality we need , 2. wages for 7 players of any standard is going to break the wage structure.

we defo have jacobsen and we have loan bids still in for zayette , zigic and swp.
if there successful it would mean 4 players in 3 needed -27 million still left.

then we have 12 million straight cash for riera (who may be joining liverpool )and a vague possibility 1.8 million bid for an egyptian striker.(would leave 13.2 million still available for 1 player)

looking at the targets im assuming moyes is actually trying to get the cheap players out the way so he can then see what he is left with cash wise to buy 'the big player'.if riera joins liverpool and we get zigic and swp , i bet my bottom dollar we will have 1 more attempt at moutinho.

Maybe we've only recieved so much money on the AJ and Faddy moves. Something just doesnt add up. Rooney transfer = £50 down £50 a week for 50 yrs from a club thats got all the money in the world. I think Moyes is doing what he can and the problems are higher up the ladder. Keith Winless going has never fully been explained even tho he said he was gonna release a statement and he wasnt required to work his 12 month notice. Could it be he put some of his own money in (like Gregg) and wanted it back ? Maybe I'm just stupid here. Afterall I'm not a business head but I do know one thing It's our money that we've put into this club through the gate and everything else available to us fans and I think we have a right to know whats going on instead of keeping us in the dark all the time. Lets get some players in and get on with means the most to all of us FOOTBALL. COYB boys.

I remember reading that the Guardian was pretty damn poor with its Everton rumours. If I remember correctly, it was the Daily Star that was top of the tree for all things blue (I might be wrong, though).

I hope you're right about the Moutinho thing, though. I'd be happy if we ended up with him, SWP, an M'bia type and a few loans.
