Reasonable comment from him or not ?

He's probably just gutted about losing his place to a 19 year old tbh (in his breakthrough season)

Also, why do footballers and ex pro's ever just say that staying at Everton would be his correct choice right now? How is warming the bench at Chelsea going to help him? I'd understand Distin's comments if Stones was 27 but he's not. The lad still has a lot to learn and would be best here for at least one more season. Smacks of Distin just being a bit of a bell i reckon.

Much as I hate the word "disrespectful" used in this context, that is exactly what I think of his remarks.

But that us nowt compared to the "disrespect" shown by whoever put the story on the GOT home oage.

The headline, "Stones will end up at a big club" is emblazoned on a picture of Stones.

There is no reference to Distin, there is no context to the remark......you just log on the home page and there it is, staring you in the face.

From the quotes I've seen he did

The French defender told Sky Sports News HQ: “He’s young, English, full of qualities and a good guy as well. “I’ve often said it’s not enough to have quality on the pitch. Off the pitch you need to be grounded and a good person – and he is. “So it’s not surprising a big club has come in for him. It is a compliment and if he carries on the way he has started and keeps working, he’ll end up at a big club, that’s for sure.”

Stones has already become an England international and the club are desperate to keep him, but Distin believes he still has to improve before joining the elite level of defenders in the league.

“He hasn’t played a full season yet,” he added. “He needs to become a little more experience, understanding of the Premier League and know a bit more about himself, and then you can speak of it.”

If he had just been clearer that when he says "a little more experience", he means with us, I don't think the reaction would have been nearly as harsh. On a second reading, you can see he's actually sort of saying that Stones should not go to Chelsea now when he says "and then you can speak of it", I just wish he was a bit more direct so the papers wouldn't twist his words.

Think the English being his 2nd language plays a part in that though
