This is so [Poor language removed] awesome. So they called last night and rescheduled today but with a different person entirely who could only do via a Zoom meeting. This person read my whatevers and asked me about one of the medicines Ive been taking, a benzo. I told her "it's working great, haven't felt this "normal" in months"'. Well she didn't want to prescribe this to me as benzo's are massively addictive. Ok, I get it. I don't want any dependency on that as well. What do you think is a good replacement for this? "SSRI's". That's not a replacement for the Klonopim, that's a replacement for the other thing. You want me to stop taking the Klonopim which has eliminated almost all my anxiety and panic attacks, what is there to replace with? "Im not going to give you any benzos". That's not at all what Im asking for, Im telling you the Klonopim has helped tremendously and I'm fine NOT taking it, I just am going to probably need SOMETHING to replace with. Work with me, what is there that is NOT a benzo that you can give me? "SSRIs is what we should be giving you" Got frustrated and told her she wasn't listening to a thing I was saying because she kept on going in circles without listening.
Absolutely refused to listen to my point until she ended the [Poor language removed] call because "I can't deal with this".
As you describe mate, Benzo`s are the most wonderful thing for relieving anxiety, but they`re massively addictive and your body also builds up a tolerance to them, meaning you have to keep upping the dose to get the same effect, which is incredibly dangerous.
Due to a lazy GP, continually prescribing them, I became unknowingly addicted to them and only actually realised I was addicted when I tried to come off them, which was similar to when Euan McGregor goes cold turkey in Train Spotting !
So she was right in wanting to take you off them, but she should`ve explained what your options were with regards to the different types of SSRI`s, as some treat anxiety as well as depression, but others don`t.
Was she a GP or a Nurse Practitioner, as I think you need to see someone face to face, rather than via Zoom, as for something as complex as your situation, it`s just not the same.
Out of all the meds I`ve taken, nothing has ever worked so effectively as Benzo`s, it`s a tragedy that they haven`t been able to find a way to make them non addictive.
